Augmented REALITY (AR) Art Competition OPEN CALL
The open call is closed! Discover the selected augmented reality art piece at Megève church city square from mid-December to mid-April 2026!
Overview
As part of the
6th Digital ART EXPO (2026), the organizing committee announces an
open call for one site-specific AR artwork to be presented in the very heart of Megève. The selected proposal will be the
sole AR installation showcased on the
main church city square throughout the winter season.
Site & Audience
Megève’s main church city square—framed by medieval architecture, frequented for winter events (ski competition awards, music concerts, etc.), and home to the large illuminated Christmas tree—is the resort’s focal point as shown in the photo below. Virtually all visitors pass through at least once, ensuring exceptional visibility for the selected work.

Visibility & Communications
The winning artist (or collective) will receive:
- On-site visibility: a dedicated QR-code sign on the square to launch or download the AR experience, accompanied by curatorial text and artist information.
- Digital presence: feature on the Digital ART EXPO website and inclusion across official communication materials.
Eligibility & Content Requirements
Format: Any AR approach or platform is eligible (e.g., geolocated sculpture, interactive animation, narrative/sound-based AR), provided the experience is children-friendly.
Language: Where language is used, the experience must be available
at least in French and English.
Evaluation — Preferred Criteria
Proposals will be ranked higher if they:
- Are animated and/or interactive;
- Reference Megève’s legends, history, or cultural heritage;
- Are instantly accessible via QR code (WebAR or similar) without requiring an app download;
- Are donated to the organizing association after public display in the form of a signed NFT (for authenticity and preservation, the organizer will help to create the signed NFT).
Key Dates (Paris time, CET)
- Open call deadline (submission includes final AR piece): 8 December 2025 (23:59)
- Selection decision sent by email: 12 December 2025
- Deployment hand-off (packaging/onsite integration only): 20 December 2025
- Exhibition window: ~mid-December 2025 → end-April 2026
Submission Package (final, jury-launchable AR required)
Your submission must already contain the finished AR experience that the jury can open and test on standard smartphones during selection. Provide by email to support@digital-art-expo.com :
- Launch assets for immediate testing
- Primary: a QR code and URL to the live AR experience (WebAR strongly preferred).
- If app-based: iOS TestFlight and/or Android APK, app access with any passwords/test accounts required.
- Fallback media: 30–60s screen-capture video demonstrating full interaction flow.
- Technical dossier (1–3 pages)
- Platform/engine, hosting plan, device compatibility (recent iOS/Android), performance notes (asset sizes, loading times), geolocation/anchoring method, and connectivity assumptions.
- Confirmation whether the work is no-app / QR-to-launch.
- Artistic documentation
- Concept statement, site integration rationale, audience journey, visuals/mock-ups or storyboard.
- Compliance statements
- Children-friendly content; bilingual availability (FR/EN); safety and public-space considerations.
- Rights & optional transfer
- The artist retains copyright. The organizer receives a non-exclusive license to present, document, display publicly, and promote the work for the duration of the exhibition and in perpetuity for archival/press purposes. License for the exhibition window; crediting details.
- Optional: terms for post-display donation as a signed NFT.
Technical & On-Site Considerations
- The experience must be robust for outdoor, high-footfall use and launchable via on-site QR signage.
- No-app access (WebAR or equivalent) is strongly preferred; app-based solutions remain eligible but will be scored lower.
- The organizer coordinates signage production and official communications; artists ensure hosting, uptime, and compatibility with current iOS/Android devices.
Selection
A curatorial jury convened by the Digital ART EXPO organizing association will review all eligible submissions and select one proposal for public presentation on the square during the exhibition window.
