The open call is closed! Discover the selected artists during the 8th, 9th and 10th January in Megève streets and congress auditorium!

Overview

As part of the 7th Digital Art EXPO (2027), the organizing committee announces an open call for seven artists or collectives. Selected participants will have the exclusive opportunity to showcase their artwork in the heart of Megève's prestigious ski resort streets from January 8th to January 10th, as well as at the Megève Congress Center Auditorium on the evening of Saturday, January 9th.

Site & Audience

During the winter high season, Megève welcomes approximately 50,000 tourists per week. Its charming streets are framed by historic architecture, and the iconic church square—home to a magnificent illuminated Christmas tree—serves as the resort’s focal point. Virtually all visitors pass through this central area at least once, ensuring exceptional visibility and foot traffic for the selected artists.

Visibility & Communications

The selected artists (or collectives) will receive:

On-Site Visibility (The Art Parcours):

  • Premium display equipment: A high-quality presentation easel equipped with a weather-resistant Dibond panel, to be signed by the artist with an indelible pen. This panel will feature a representative printed artwork, event information, a curatorial text, and a QR code linking directly to the artist's digital portfolio or Augmented Reality (AR) experience.
  • Freedom of placement: Artists are authorized to set up their easels throughout the streets of Megève from January 8th to 10th (provided they do not obstruct pedestrian flow or shop windows).
  • Official presence hours: To foster connection with the public, artists are expected to be present alongside their easels during the following official program hours:
  • Friday, Jan 8th: 3:00 PM – 8:00 PM
  • Saturday, Jan 9th: 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM
  • Sunday, Jan 10th: 3:00 PM – 8:00 PM
  • Note: The easels and Dibond panels remain the property of the Digital Art EXPO and must be returned at the end of the event.

Saturday, January 9th Evening Events (Megève Congress Center):

  • 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM: A dedicated presentation space (table, chair, and power outlet) on the auditorium mezzanine. (Note: Artists are responsible for their belongings at all times and should arrange for supervision during the panel).
  • Panel Discussion: Participation as a speaker in the main auditorium panel.
  • 7:30 PM – 9:00 PM: Complimentary access to the exclusive D-ART cocktail dînatoire (networking dinner).

Digital Presence & Certification:

  • Featured profile on the official Digital Art EXPO website and inclusion in promotional materials where possible.
  • Personalized assistance to create a Digital Art Certificate (DAC) for your showcased work.

Logistics & Accommodation:

  • Travel, accommodation, and catering expenses remain the responsibility of the artists.
  • Upon special request and subject to availability, limited lodging may be provided by association members in Megève.

Eligibility & Content Requirements

  • Format: All art mediums are eligible, provided they can be presented digitally via a web page or an Augmented Reality (AR) experience (e.g., geolocated sculptures, interactive animations, narrative or sound-based AR). All content must be family-friendly.
  • Language: If text or audio is included, the experience must be available in both French and English.

Evaluation — Preferred Criteria

Submissions will be scored higher if they:

  • Feature animation and/or interactivity.
  • Reference the legends, history, or cultural heritage of Megève.
  • Are instantly accessible via QR code (e.g., WebAR) without requiring users to download a dedicated mobile application.

Key Dates (Paris time, CET)

  • Open Call Deadline: October 15th, 2026 (23:59 CET) – Your submission must include the final digital/AR piece.
  • Selection Notification: October 30th, 2026 (via email).
  • Final QR Code Link Deadline (for Dibond printing): November 30th, 2026.
  • Exhibition Window (Megève Streets): Friday, January 8th, 2027 → Sunday, January 10th, 2027.

Submission Package

Please email your submission to support@digital-art-expo.com. Applications must include a single PDF document containing functional links to your web pages or AR experiences for the jury to test, along with the following sections:

  1. Artistic Documentation: Concept statement, site integration rationale, intended audience journey, and visual mock-ups or storyboards.
  2. Technical Dossier (1–3 pages): Technical specifications of the art pieces. For AR works: specify the platform/engine, hosting plan, device compatibility, performance notes (asset size, loading times), geolocation/anchoring method, and connectivity requirements. Confirm whether the experience is accessible via QR code without an app.
  3. Compliance Statement: Confirmation that the content is family-friendly, bilingual (FR/EN), and strictly suitable for a public space.
  4. Rights & Licensing: The artist retains full copyright. By applying, the artist grants the organizer a non-exclusive license to present, document, publicly display (including on the Dibond panels), and promote the work during the exhibition window, as well as in perpetuity for archival and press purposes.

Technical & On-Site Considerations

  • The digital experience must be robust, suited for high-footfall outdoor environments, and instantly launchable via the QR code printed on the Dibond panel.
  • "No-app" access (WebAR or equivalent) is strongly preferred. App-based solutions are eligible but will receive a lower evaluation score.
  • The EXPO organizers will coordinate the production of the Dibond signage and official event communications. Artists are strictly responsible for their own hosting, server uptime, and ensuring compatibility with recent iOS and Android devices.

Selection

A curatorial jury, convened by the Digital Art EXPO organizing committee, will review all eligible submissions and select seven exceptional proposals to be showcased in the streets of Megève and at the Congress Center Auditorium during the 2027 exhibition window.
